Dear Georgian,
We’re cruising by Mile Marker #25 on rough road with the looming government shutdown that begins on October 1 if a funding bill is not enacted.
As you may know, I want Congress to get back to passing 12 appropriations bills annually and using that process to get rid of wasteful spending and rein in federal agencies. As we work toward that goal, the House passed a short-term continuing resolution (CR) last week, with my support, to keep the government open and buy more time for President Trump and congressional leaders to negotiate a longer-term government funding bill. Right now, the CR awaits action by the U.S. Senate.
I will keep you up to date with all relevant information as we work to stop the Democrat shutdown.
