Dear Neighbor,
We are cruising toward the next Mile Marker, so it’s time to update you on all we’ve been doing throughout our August District Work Period! Over the past few weeks, we've been busy traveling Georgia's 10th district meeting with community members, local businesses, and visiting with the folks that make the Peach State the great state that it is. From farmers in the agricultural sector to manufacturing workers and first responders, I’ve had the unique opportunity to hear valuable input from the people I represent and I couldn’t be more excited to return to Washington to work on your behalf.
Here’s a snapshot of everything we’ve been up to this eventful district work period:

Supporting Local Law Enforcement
Safety and law enforcement are key for business investment and development in our communities.
In Madison, I had the pleasure of meeting with local law enforcement leaders to discuss current events and tour the new Georgia Sheriff’s Association facility. I know I join many in expressing my gratitude for everything they do to keep our neighborhoods safe!

Safety and quality training always come first. Places like the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) in Monroe provide invaluable resources and skills for Georgia's first responders and safety personnel. As one of the highest-caliber training facilities in our nation, it was a blast to visit GPSTC and get some hands-on experience. A big thank you to Director Wigginton and the team!

Supporting Georgia Farmers
Farmers are critical to our nation’s food security and are an important part of Georgia’s economy.
As your member of Congress, I’m committed to ensuring farmers have the support they need to keep the agricultural industry strong.
Visiting farms, like Mr. Tim Camp’s property in Putnam County, is always a pleasure.
|
In Taliaferro County, I also had the privilege of meeting with Farm Bureau members along with other local residents where we got to chat and discuss my upcoming policy goals.
Then, in Crawfordville, I toured the robust operation at Harrison Poultry’s state-of-the-art feed mill.
As one of the top poultry-producing states in the nation, our local industry is vital for supporting Georgia livestock and agriculture!
|
Bolstering Georgia’s Manufacturing Sector
Georgia’s manufacturing industry makes up a good portion of our state’s output and employs thousands across the 10th district.
As a member of the Science, Space, and Technology Committee, I will always do what it takes to keep American manufacturing jobs at home and provide businesses with what they need to make operations affordable, profitable, and beneficial for all parties involved.
It was a pleasure touring the Delta TechOps facility in Atlanta and learning about its vital role in aviation. Delta TechOps employs thousands of skilled workers throughout the state who are critical to the company’s operations.

Hosting My First Telephone Town Hall
It is an honor to be your voice in our nation's capital and hearing directly from you helps me fight for our shared values. That's why speaking with you at my first-ever Telephone Town Hall was a pleasure!
Folks from across Georgia’s 10th joined the call to express their thoughts about current events and ask questions about legislative matters, social security, veteran affairs, and more.
To everyone who dialed in, thank you! We will be hosting another one here shortly so please stay posted for those details.

Seeing Georgia’s Healthcare Firsthand
Healthcare plays a vital role in our communities. As your congressman, I will always prioritize the health and safety of Georgia's 10th district and support the efforts of healthcare professionals.
In Monroe, I had the opportunity to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new MedLink Community Health Center. I also had the chance to meet with the healthcare professionals at Wills Memorial Hospital in Wilkes County.
It warms my heart to see so many great folks dedicated to meeting the healthcare needs of our Georgia communities.
|
Visiting Georgia Schools
Ensuring families have the ability to find quality education will always inform my policy-making decisions.
In Taliaferro County, I got to visit the community’s only school and meet the inspiring educators and leaders dedicated to giving their students the best opportunities possible.
Then, in Athens-Clarke County, I had the unique privilege of touring the University of Georgia’s Russell Library for Political Research and Studies which boasts one of the largest and foremost repositories for modern congressional papers. Go Dogs!

Setting Up a New Office in My Hometown
Last month, we had the unique opportunity to set up our new office in my hometown of Jackson in the Historic Butts County Courthouse!
It really was great to see all my neighbors and fellow community members who were able to make it to our opening house and ribbon-cutting ceremony as we showcased the new spot.
|
Supporting Veterans
Our Veterans deserve the utmost respect, care, and support.
I am thankful for the opportunity to have met with Commissioner Patricia Ross of Georgia's Department of Veteran Services.
Whether in Georgia or Washington, I will remain dedicated to working closely with community leaders and other representatives to ensure that those who faithfully served our nation always have the support they have earned and deserve.
|
Putting Georgia Infrastructure First
As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I know that quality infrastructure and a well-kept transportation system are critical for a robust economy—and improving and maintaining Georgia’s is one of my top priorities.
In Atlanta, I was grateful to be able to meet with Georgia Department of Transportation Commissioner Russell McMurry.

Service Academy Day
In August, we hosted our 2023 Service Academy Day! The event was a great success with more than 165 participants gathered at Prince Avenue Christian School to learn more about the application and nomination process for the nation’s five military service academies.
It was fantastic to see so many young men and women take interest in serving in our nation’s military.
There is no better way to receive a world-class education while preparing for leadership in America’s Armed Forces than to attend a United States Service Academy.

Congressional App Challenge
Registration for the 2023 Congressional App Challenge for middle and high school students in Georgia's 10th District is still open! This nationwide event allows students to compete with their peers by creating a software application, or "app," for the internet, personal computer, tablet, mobile device, or other platform of their choice.
I encourage any student in Georgia’s 10th interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to participate. STEM is rapidly growing across the nation and this competition provides students with a great opportunity to explore their scientific curiosity. The deadline for the challenge is November 1st. To register or for more information, please click the link here.
